Knowledge and skills acquired

Reading and understanding texts from the field of computer science and communications, acquisition of new ESP vocabulary, broadening of knowledge pertaining to new structures typical of the English language, broadening and acquisition of new verbal and non-verbal communication patterns.

Teaching methods

Lectures and language practice include terminology relative to fundamental fields of students' future profession, basic grammatical structures of the English language, as well as ESP characteristics necessary for basic speech acts.

Course assessment

Conducting university questionnaires on teachers (student-teacher relationship, transparency of assessment criteria, motivation for teaching, teaching clarity, etc.). Conducting Faculty surveys on courses (upon passing the exam, student self-assessment of the adopted learning outcomes and student workload in relation to the number of ECTS credits allocated to activities and courses as a whole).

Overview of course assesment

Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

1. identify and describe the differences between general and technical English language based on the chosen specialised texts and topics

2. recognise essential elements (key words) from a complex specialised text and analyse and interpret complex specialised texts

3. define and interpret specialised vocabulary used in texts and use the vocabulary while translating short specialised texts

4. use grammatical structures in both written and spoken communication

5. expand and acquire new communication models and provide a critical review of a specialised topic in both written and oral form

6. give an oral presentation of a specialized topic
