Knowledge and skills acquired

This course gives the basics of description of system dynamic behaviour, structural presentation of basic elements and systems of automatic control, feedback phenomenon in the system, and feedback system stability analysis. In addition to that, students acquire basic knowledge of control algorithm design and evaluation of the achieved control quality. Laboratory practice provides skills pertaining to use of basic software tools for control system analysis and synthesis (Matlab), as well as methodology of practical control system implementation.

Teaching methods

Lectures, auditory and laboratory exercises.

Course assessment

Conducting university questionnaires on teachers (student-teacher relationship, transparency of assessment criteria, motivation for teaching, teaching clarity, etc.). Conducting Faculty surveys on courses (upon passing the exam, student self-assessment of the adopted learning outcomes and student workload in relation to the number of ECTS credits allocated to activities and courses as a whole).

Overview of course assesment

Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

1. explain the dynamic behaviour of the system and its dynamic mathematical model

2. carry out a simple analysis of dynamic system in a time area, complex variable area and frequency area

3. describe the structure of a control loop and the role of its individual parts

4. recognise the influence of particular control loop elements on its overall behaviour

5. analyse behaviour of simple dynamic systems using MATLAB

6. synthesise a controller by using some of the practical synthesis procedures
