Course description

Complex Magnetic Circuit and Reluctance. Methods of Solving Linear Electrical Networks: Direct Application of Kirchhoff's Laws, Loop Current Method, Node Voltage Methods, Superposition Methods. Thevenin's, Norton's, and Millman's theorems. Compensation of reactive power. Resonance. Quality factor and frequency characteristics. Multi-phase system. Three-phase system. Delta and Y connections. Power in three-phase system. Inductance and transformer. The resulting inductance of mutually connected coils. An air transformer its equation and scheme. An iron core transformer. Transient phenomena.

Knowledge and skills acquired

Knowledge of magnetic circuits, Phasor Domain Circuit Analysis, Method of solving linear DC and AC networks; Complex power calculation, compensation, resonance; Calculation of current, voltage and power in three-phase circuits; Transformer modeling, transient phenomena.

Teaching methods

Lectures (2 hours per week), auditorial exercises (2 hours per week), laboratory exercises (1 hour)
