students to enrol in the Doctoral study programme in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

in the academic 2023/2024 year

 

I.

 

• The Doctoral study programme in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is carried out in the scientific area of technical sciences, scientific field of electrical engineering/computer science, at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek.

• The Doctoral study programme in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science lasts for three years, i.e., six semesters, and carries 180 ECTS credits. Upon its completion, doctoral students are awarded the academic title of the Doctor of Science.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

The following categories of applicants are eligible to apply for admission to the first year of the Doctoral study programme:

 

  • Applicants who completed graduate university study programmes or four-year university pre-Bologna study programmes in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or Informatics at Croatian universities with an average undergraduate and graduate or an average four-year university pre-Bologna level grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.8 are eligible to enrol in the Doctoral study programme. Exceptionally,  an applicant whose GPA is lower than 3.8, but not lower than 3.0, will be able to enrol in the Doctoral study programme based on recommendation letters issued by two university professors or research results accomplished by the applicant. Applicants holding a degree in Mathematics, Physics or Informatics will be obliged to take the entrance exam and/or additional exams.
  • Applicants holding a Master’s of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a degree in related scientific fields who graduated from Croatian or foreign universities are eligible to enrol in the Doctoral study programme in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science after the successful academic recognition of foreign higher education qualifications. If an applicant holding a Master’s of Science degree wants to enrol in a module different from the scientific field in which they obtained a degree, they will be required to take additional exams.
  • Applicants holding a Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from foreign universities are eligible to enrol in the Doctoral study programme after the successful academic recognition of foreign higher education qualifications and if they meet admission requirements referring to students who have completed their studies at one of the Croatian universities, as described in this article under points I. and II.

 

Speaking one foreign language is mandatory and the proof of language proficiency is to be submitted.

 

III.

In addition to the application form, the applicants are obliged to enclose the following:

  • a diploma or a certified copy of an undergraduate and graduate, four-year university undergraduate (pre-Bologna) or a Master’s of Science degree diploma, or an academic recognition certificate;
  • a diploma supplement related to undergraduate and graduate or four-year university undergraduate (pre-Bologna) study programmes or a transcript of records;
  • recommendation letters of two university professors if an applicant’s GPA is lower than 3.8 but not lower than 3.0;
  • a birth certificate, a copy of the certificate of nationality or proof of citizenship;
  • curriculum vitae;
  • a list and copies of published professional and research papers;
  • a list of patents and participation in projects;
  • the decision of the company or institution on the payment of the tuition fee (if legal persons pay the tuition fee) or a personally signed statement (if the applicants pay the tuition fee).

The submission deadline is 28 October 2023.

Selected applicants should enrol in the study programme by 25 November 2023.

 

IV.

Costs of the Doctoral study programme in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

 

The total tuition fee of the Doctoral study programme in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science amounts to 6,768.86 euros, and it can be paid in 6 instalments of 1,128.14 euros prior to enrolment in a higher semester, or one can use bank loans.

The total tuition fee for Master’s degree holders is 3,583.52 euros, and it can be paid in 3 instalments of 1,194.51 euros prior to enrolment in a higher semester.

The tuition fee is paid to the account of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek, IBAN: HR19 2390 0011 1000 16777, Hrvatska poštanska banka.

 

V.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:

Applicants are selected based on the admissions procedure. The admissions procedure consists of the evaluation of the grade point average of all grades applicants earned during their undergraduate and graduate study programmes or four-year university undergraduate (pre-Bologna) study programmes, published papers and interviews with applicants. An interview with applicants is a mandatory part of the selection procedure. Applicants will be notified of the date of the interview by e-mail.

An applicant who does not attend the interview will be eliminated from the selection procedure.

Applicants shall enrol in the Doctoral study programme according to their position on the ranking list.

VII.

Applications not filled out in accordance with the prescribed application form and application instructions as well as late and incomplete applications will not be considered.
