INTERNSHIP (PLACEMENT) at FERIT UNIOS

Students interested in doing the internship in one of FERIT laboratories, centres or offices, can do it in two ways: within Erasmus + Program or IAESTE.

Procedure for Erasmus is explained in the previous bullet and is the same for studying and internship mobility.

In addition to the Erasmus programme, students can also choose an IAESTE internship.

IAESTE provides international professional opportunities for students in the technical fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Architecture).
Participants can do internships at host institutions ranging from large multinational corporations to university research centres to start-ups.
All IAESTE participants receive a grant that covers at least the cost of living – housing, transportation and food – in their host city.
Housing accommodations and other administrative services, such as assistance with the visa process, are provided by the IAESTE organization in Osijek.

General process to apply for an IAESTE internship

To apply for an internship, you need to register on the IAESTE Exchange Platform and contact your national or local committee.

Each country has its own processes and eligibility requirements that you will need to follow in order to be considered for an internship. If you are a student from a country that is not an IAESTE member, please follow the steps as outlined here.

Step 1 - Find an internship

To apply for an IAESTE internship, you need to register on the IAESTE Exchange Platform to see available internships and apply!

Step 2 - Get in contact with your IAESTE committee

Once registered and approved, your national committee with guide you through the application process.

Step 3 - Be accepted by the employer

Once selected by your committee, prepare your documents to be forwarded to the employer.

Step 4 - Go on your internship

Upon being accepted by the employer/FERIT, you will receive all the necessary information needed to start your internship!

3. BEFORE ARRIVAL

Visa requirements and residence permit

Upon processing your application, you will be issued an official letter of acceptance.
Letter of acceptance and a confirmation of accommodation will be needed for regulation of your visa or residence permit.

Visa is not required for EU/EEA and non-visa regime countries.
Visa is required for visa-regime countries. Application should be submitted via the Croatian embassy in the home country before departing for Croatia.

Health Insurance

All exchange students must have health insurance during their stay in Croatia. There are several options for regulating your health insurance:

  • European Health Insurance Card (EHIC): students may use health care services in Croatia if having a valid EHIC;
  • If you are coming from a country that has signed an international agreement on health security with the Republic of Croatia, you are entitled to use the health care services during your temporary stay in Croatia. Before coming to Croatia, you should check with your health insurance provider at home under which conditions you can use your home health insurance in Croatia. If possible, your health insurance provider will issue a relevant document, which you should bring with you to Osijek. Upon arrival, you will be assisted in contacting the Croatian Institute for Health Insurance in order to replace the certificate attesting your right to use the health care with a paper-based health insurance record card (Croatian: bolesnički list).
  • You should possess an international travel and health insurance policy issued by an insurance company in your home country and valid in Croatia. This insurance must include repatriation insurance (medical expenses are paid by the student and later reimbursed by the insurance company).
  • You can take out your health insurance at the Croatian Health Insurance Fund (hzzo.hr/en) when you arrive. Such insurance costs 400 HRK per month (approx. 54 EUR) and entitles you to all medical services available to Croatian citizens.

Accommodation

The University of Osijek offers Erasmus incoming students accommodation in the dormitory located at the University Campus. Students are accommodated in double rooms. The approximate monthly cost of accommodation is HRK 875.00 (approx. EUR 115.00).

Another option for student accommodation in Osijek is private apartments and rooms offered for rent. The monthly cost of private accommodation varies from 200 EUR for a single room to 350 EUR for a furnished apartment.
