MikroTik is internationally known company (with headquarters in Latvia) which produces networking equipment and software.

On global market it is recognized by its widely accepted brands: RouterOS software and RouterBOARD hardware. Engineers who are familiar with MikroTik technology are wanted on labour markets worldwide. Recognizing this fact, MikroTik developed cooperation program with higher educational institutions, enabling them to organize MikroTik Academy for students, as the preparation for the MTCNA (MikroTik Certified Network Associate) certification exam.

FERIT is also included into this program, and its ten employees (after they previously passed official training and certification process) become certified MikroTik Academy Trainer. Assistant professor Krešimir Grgić was appointed for the leader of MikroTik Academy on FERIT. MTCNA training teaches attendants to use MikroTik hardware and software, thereby providing them also some basic knowledge regarding networks and networking technologies. Knowledge that attendees obtain is not exclusively tied to MikroTik equipment, but also include some general knowledge about networks and networking technologies, applicable in environments that implement different hardware and software. Interested FERIT students may pass this training for free on FERIT MikroTik Academy, and acquire globally accepted MTCNA certificate, recognized and respected by numerous companies. For the purpose of MikroTik Academy FERIT obtained 20 MikroTik hAP lite devices, which may also be used in education and research.
